Nate Bargatze is proof that you don't need to be edgy to be hilarious. The man does clean comedy about everyday life - his wife, his daughter, growing up in Tennessee - and somehow fills arenas doing it. When your comedy is so good that you can make 15,000 people laugh without a single swear word, that's a skill level most comics will never reach.
His delivery is the secret weapon. Bargatze talks in this low-key, almost sleepy drawl that makes everything funnier. He'll set up a story about going to the dentist, pause for what feels like an eternity, and then deliver a punchline so perfectly timed that the room explodes. The pauses do as much work as the words.
If you haven't seen his Netflix specials yet, start with "The Greatest Average American." The title says it all - he's a regular guy talking about regular stuff, and it's absolutely hilarious. "Hello World" from his record-breaking live special is just as good. The bit about his daughter's spelling bee has been reposted a million times for a reason.
Live, Bargatze is even better than the specials. He's loose, he riffs with the crowd, and he drops new material that catches you off guard because you thought you'd heard all his best stuff already. The man keeps getting funnier, which is not supposed to happen when you're already one of the biggest comedians in the country.
His fan base is massive and loyal - tickets sell fast. Check availability on Evil Tickets and bring the whole family. Seriously, you can bring your grandma to this show. She'll love it.
