PNC Park might be the most beautiful baseball stadium in America. No exaggeration. You're sitting on the banks of the Allegheny River with the Roberto Clemente Bridge right behind you and the entire Pittsburgh skyline filling the view beyond center field. At night, with the city lit up, it's genuinely stunning.
The Pirates haven't had the easiest run lately, but the fans who show up are real ones. Pittsburgh is a sports city through and through, and the people at PNC Park know their baseball. The Clemente legacy alone makes this franchise sacred. His statue outside the stadium and the bridge bearing his name are constant reminders of what this team means to this city.
For food, Primanti Brothers has a stand in the park, and yes, the fries and coleslaw go on the sandwich. It's a Pittsburgh thing, and it's non-negotiable. The pierogies are a must too - the stadium even has a Great Pierogi Race between innings. Where's Wiz at? (The Pittsburgh rap legend Wiz Khalifa would be right at home at PNC Park - his hometown stadium, his vibe.)
Before the game, walk across the Clemente Bridge from downtown - it closes to traffic on game days, and the walk across with the stadium rising up in front of you is one of the best approaches to any venue in sports. After the game, the bars on the North Shore and in the Strip District are waiting. Find Pirates tickets on Evil Tickets. PNC Park proves you don't need a winning record to have one of the best game-day experiences in baseball.
