Capital One Arena is sitting right in the middle of Chinatown in downtown DC, and the location alone makes it one of the easiest arenas to get to in the NBA. The Metro drops you basically at the door, and the surrounding neighborhood is packed with restaurants, bars, and the general buzz of the nation's capital. You couldn't ask for a better spot.
Wizards fans are resilient. This franchise has had its share of ups and downs - the Gilbert Arenas era, the John Wall and Bradley Beal years, the rebuilds in between - but the fans who show up bring genuine energy. DC is a basketball city at its core, and when the Wizards are competitive, Capital One Arena fills up and gets loud.
The food around the arena is excellent. Chinatown has some solid options (City Lights is a good pregame spot for dim sum), and Penn Quarter is right there with higher-end restaurants if you want to make an evening of it. Daikaya for ramen is a local favorite that's worth the walk. After the game, the bars on H Street NE and in Shaw are where the younger crowd heads.
You're in the capital of the free world. The least they could do is give you a good basketball game while you're here. And honestly? The Wizards might just be building something worth watching. Find your tickets on Evil Tickets and don't overthink it.
