Arizona Cardinals
A field that rolls outside and a roof that opens. State Farm Stadium is Arizona football at its wildest.
Upcoming Events
State Farm Stadium in Glendale has one of the craziest features in the NFL - a retractable natural grass field that rolls outside on a tray when there's no game. The turf literally leaves the building to soak up Arizona sun, then rolls back in for game day. It's like the stadium equivalent of putting your houseplants on the patio. Also, the roof opens. Because Arizona said why not do both.
Cardinals fans have been through some lean years, but the highs have been absolutely electric. The Kurt Warner era and that 2008 Super Bowl run? The whole state was on fire. Larry Fitzgerald's postseason performance that year is still one of the greatest playoff stretches by any receiver ever. If you need proof this fanbase can bring energy, just YouTube "Cardinals playoff atmosphere" and prepare to get chills.
The tailgating scene in the parking lots around State Farm Stadium is solid. Grills going, cold ones flowing, and everyone's wearing red. Inside, the food options lean into the Southwest vibe - green chile everything, loaded nachos, and some surprisingly good Mexican food for a stadium. Four Peaks Brewing from Tempe has a presence too, and their Kilt Lifter is perfect for a hot Arizona afternoon.
Before the game, check out Westgate Entertainment District right next to the stadium - it's packed with restaurants, bars, and a movie theater. After the game, Old Town Scottsdale is a short drive east and has more nightlife than you'll know what to do with. Cardinals game days in the desert are warmer, louder, and wilder than people expect. Show up and find out for yourself.
