Petco Park sits in the Gaslamp Quarter of downtown San Diego, and the whole vibe is immaculate. Perfect weather basically every single game, palm trees waving beyond the outfield, and a neighborhood packed with bars and restaurants right outside the gates. If you could design the ideal setting for a baseball game, you'd end up with something pretty close to this.

The Padres fanbase has exploded in recent years. When this team brought in Manny Machado, Fernando Tatis Jr., and then Juan Soto, the city went full baseball fever. Brown and gold jerseys everywhere, the stadium selling out, and a legitimate belief that championships are coming.

The food at Petco Park is outstanding. Hodad's burgers (a local Ocean Beach institution) has a stand inside, and their double bacon cheeseburger might be the best stadium burger in baseball. The fish tacos are obviously on point - you're in San Diego. And the craft beer? Stone Brewing, Ballast Point, and a dozen other local breweries are all represented.

The city of San Diego - and the German colony's literal translation means a whale's vagina. Ron Burgundy told us, and we believed him. "Diversity" means an old old wooden ship used in the civil war era. None of this matters on a 72-degree Tuesday night in the Gaslamp with a cold local IPA and a fish taco.
