Detroit Red Wings
Hockeytown is not a nickname the Red Wings gave themselves - the city earned it through four Cups in the 90s and a fanbase that throws octopuses on the ice. Little Caesars Arena carries the tradition.

Little Caesars Arena opened in 2017 in Detroit's Corktown-adjacent District Detroit development and holds about 20,000 for hockey. The building has a glass roof over the concourse that lets in natural light during day games and creates a distinctive look at night. The octopus tradition - throwing an eight-tentacled animal on the ice during playoff games, because eight wins were needed for a Cup - dates to 1952 and has been a Detroit ritual ever since.
The Red Wings dynasty from 1994 through 2016 produced four Cups and a 25-year consecutive playoff streak. Yzerman, Fedorov, Lidstrom, Shanahan - the names fill out a Hall of Fame roster. The current rebuild has been slower than the fan base would like, but the hunger for a return to contention is palpable. Greektown on Monroe Street is the traditional pregame destination - Fishbone's and the surrounding restaurants have been serving Wings fans for decades. The district bars closer to the arena have multiplied since the building opened.
Parking in the District Detroit area is manageable and the arena is close enough to downtown that rideshare from most neighborhoods is practical. The QLine streetcar stops nearby. Greektown Casino has a parking garage if you want to walk through the neighborhood before the game.
