Prudential Center holds about 17,625 for hockey and sits in downtown Newark directly adjacent to Penn Station, which makes it one of the most accessible arenas in the New York metropolitan area. NJ Transit from New York Penn Station drops you two blocks from the door. The Ironbound district to the east of the arena is one of the best restaurant neighborhoods in the Northeast - Portuguese and Spanish restaurants along Ferry Street and Market Street have been feeding Newark for decades. Casa Vasca and Fornos of Spain are institutions. A pregame dinner in the Ironbound before a Devils game is genuinely the right move.

The Devils dynasty of the 1990s and 2000s - three Stanley Cups in 1995, 2000, and 2003 built on the Martin Brodeur era and the defensive system that Ken Hitchcock critics called the trap - produced one of the most decorated rosters in the salary-cap-era NHL. Brodeur, Scott Stevens, Scott Niedermayer, Martin and Paul Madano, Patrik Elias. The current Devils have a young core with Jack Hughes and Nico Hischier and are pushing toward a new contention window.

The Prudential Center is in walking distance from Newark Penn Station, the Broad Street station, and multiple bus lines. Parking is available in the attached garage and surrounding decks. The arena itself is well-maintained and underrated as a concert and hockey venue.
