Minute Maid Park has a retractable roof, a full-size train on the tracks above left field, and it's sitting right in the middle of downtown Houston. When the roof is open on a nice Texas evening, this place is gorgeous. When the roof is closed because Houston decided to be 98 degrees with 100% humidity, you're thankful for modern engineering.
The Astros have been one of the most dominant teams in baseball over the last decade. Multiple pennants, a World Series title, and a lineup that made pitchers rethink their career choices. The fans here are loud, knowledgeable, and they pack the house when October rolls around. Houston does playoff baseball different.
For food, the brisket situation inside Minute Maid is actually legit. Killen's BBQ has a stand in the park, and it's real-deal Texas barbecue. Not stadium food pretending to be barbecue - the real thing. Pair it with a Karbach Love Street and you're golden. The Tex-Mex options are solid too, because of course they are. It's Houston.
Before the game, the bars and restaurants along Crawford Street are the pregame headquarters. 8th Wonder Brewery is a quick ride away if you want to do it right. After the game, head to Midtown or EaDo (East Downtown) for the after-party. This city knows how to show up for its teams, and you'll feel that energy from the moment you park.
