You don't have to be in New York or LA to see amazing talent, and Bass Concert Hall proves that emphatically every single week of the year. Located on the University of Texas campus right in Austin, this 2,900-seat venue is the largest performing arts hall in the city and it books everything from touring Broadway shows to major concert acts to comedy specials and one-of-a-kind events. The caliber of talent that comes through here regularly would make any city in the country jealous.
The room is modern, the acoustics are excellent, and the sight lines are thoughtfully designed so there really isn't a bad seat in the entire house. The Broadway seasons are consistently strong and always anticipated - recent years have brought Hamilton, Wicked, The Lion King, and other big-ticket productions that sound phenomenal in this space. Concert nights bring a completely different energy - bigger acts that have outgrown the Red River clubs but specifically want the Austin crowd, which is always enthusiastic, knowledgeable about live performance, and genuinely appreciative of what they're seeing.
Being on the UT campus means you're near the Drag (Guadalupe Street) and all the youthful energy that comes with a major university neighborhood. Crown & Anchor Pub is a classic campus bar right there for a pre-show drink in a no-frills setting. Kerbey Lane Cafe has been an Austin institution since 1980 - get the pancakes any time of day because pancakes are always appropriate regardless of the hour. And if you want something more upscale, Uchi on South Lamar is one of the best sushi restaurants in all of Texas.
Bass Concert Hall brings big-city productions to the Live Music Capital of the World. Browse what's coming up on Evil Tickets and experience Austin beyond 6th Street. You won't regret it.
