Viejas Arena is attached to the SDSU campus and the college atmosphere is part of what makes it an interesting venue. At 12,000 seats, it's smaller than your standard NBA arena, which makes the room feel fuller and louder for concerts and SDSU basketball games than the raw number suggests. The acoustics are genuinely above average for a campus arena - the designers apparently cared about the sound, which is not always the case with college venues.

SDSU basketball here can be a real scene - the Aztecs have had genuinely good programs and the student section gets loud. For concerts, the booking skews toward acts that resonate with the campus population but runs wide enough to include country, hip-hop, and legacy rock acts. The campus location in Mission Valley means parking is available in nearby structures; you'll pay for it on game days but the alternative is the Green Line trolley to Alvarado Medical Center station and a short walk to the arena, which actually works well.
