American Airlines Center is one of the better multi-purpose arenas in the country for both sports and concerts. The 19,200-seat capacity keeps it intimate enough that the upper sections don't feel disconnected from the floor, and the sight lines throughout the building are clean. Mavs playoff games here are genuinely loud - the MFFL faithful show up. Stars games in the winter are a different crowd but equally committed.
Victory Park around the arena has developed into a solid neighborhood for pregame and postgame. The nearby bars and restaurants are within easy walking distance, and the DART light rail runs directly to Victory Station. If you're driving from anywhere in the metroplex, plan for traffic on game nights - the freeway access near the arena backs up. Valet and surface lots fill fast but there are structured garages a few blocks out.
