The Anthem is the best concert venue in Washington D.C. and it's not particularly close. The 6,000-capacity room is designed specifically for music - the stage is massive for the room size, the sound system is excellent, and the sightlines from every section are genuinely good. The floor can be configured GA or seated depending on the show, and the balcony sections give you elevated views without sacrificing intimacy. It's the kind of venue that makes mid-size touring acts sound like they're playing a stadium show.
The Wharf location is a significant part of the experience. The entire development on the Southwest D.C. waterfront has bar and restaurant options that turn a concert night into a full evening. Show up early, have dinner or drinks on the water, walk to the show, and keep things going at the waterfront bars afterward. The Waterfront Metro stop on the Green Line is about a 10-minute walk, or you can rideshare directly to the Wharf. Parking is available in the Wharf garage structure but the area is walkable enough that you can work with transit.
