Madison Square Garden

MSG, better known as The Garden, is the most recognizable venue in the country, named after President James Madison (hat tip to you, sir). The Garden is where you come to see the big names play. We’re talking Lady Gaga, Eric Clapton, Jay Z, Billy Joel (he’s a resident here), and more. Simply grab a train to Penn Station, slink into any bar, and then head over to find your seats.

Fest-filled Summers

New York City and its surrounding area has more music festivals than any other city. Whether you want to spend an entire weekend getting blasted with electronic music, or keep it chill upstate, there are loads festivals to attend throughout the summer.

Other Iconic Venues

Birdland

Since 1949, Birdland has been the go-to hub for Manhattan jazz fans. This hotspot was named after its original headliner, Charlie Parker (who fellow musicians nicknamed “Bird”). The décor of the club will transport you back to the glory of 1940s Manhattan with lush red velvet curtains and cozy leather booths cloaked in dim lighting.

While in the 1950s the club only charged a $1.50 cover fee, be prepared to shell out a bit more to gain access to this jazzy gem in midtown. (Located on 44^th street between 8^th and 9^th)

Blue Note

A bit further south on the island in Greenwich Village is another iconic jazz joint, Blue Note. The ambience is superb, the music is top notch and the food is excellent. (Located near the corner of 6^th Avenue and Third Street in NoHo)
