It's Broadway, baby. In Denver. And no, we're absolutely not joking - the Buell Theatre is where the biggest touring Broadway productions come through the Mile High City, and the caliber of shows that roll through here would make most mid-size cities jealous beyond belief. Frozen, Rent, Chicago, Elf the Musical, Hamilton, Wicked - the hits keep coming season after season and the Buell handles every single one with the production quality these massive shows deserve.
Can you smell the culture? Because the Buell has plenty of it. At 2,884 seats, this is the DCPA's largest proscenium theater, and it's designed to handle the full spectacle of major Broadway tours - the flying rigs, the massive rotating set pieces, the orchestra pit, all of it. The acoustics are excellent, the seats are comfortable enough for a three-hour production, and even the upper balcony has surprisingly good sightlines that make every price point worthwhile. This isn't one of those rooms where you need binoculars past row twenty.
As part of the Denver Performing Arts Complex, you're downtown with dining options everywhere you look. Bistro Vendome on Larimer Square is the perfect pre-theater French dinner (get the steak frites and a glass of something red). Mercantile Dining & Provision in Union Station does farm-to-table food that'll pair nicely with whatever highbrow production you're seeing tonight. Or go casual at Shake Shack across the complex if you just want to eat quickly and get to your seat.
If you love theater or if you've never been and want to start with something spectacular, the Buell is your room. Browse what's on stage via Evil Tickets and treat yourself. You absolutely deserve a fancy night out.
