Hobby Center for the Performing Arts
Houston's Broadway house in the downtown theater district. Purpose-built in 2002, with 2,650 seats and sight lines that don't have a bad one in the bunch. This is where the touring Broadway shows...

The Hobby Center went up in 2002 specifically to do one thing well - host theater - and it shows. Sarofim Hall seats 2,650 across the orchestra and two balcony levels, and the room was designed so the sight lines hold up wherever you sit. If you're picking seats, the orchestra and lower balcony both put you close; this isn't a room where the cheap seats feel like a different building.
The marquee draw is the Broadway at the Hobby Center series through Broadway Across America, but the calendar also fills out with concerts, comedy, and special performances. The building sits on Wortham Street in the downtown theater district, walking distance from the Wortham Theater Center next door - so you can make a full night of it in one of the more concentrated arts corridors in the country.
Dress it up a little, get there early for a drink in the lobby, and settle in. Browse the Hobby Center lineup on Evil Tickets and grab seats for the next touring production.
