The Alliance is the kind of theater that quietly feeds Broadway. Productions get developed here and then move north, which means you can catch major work months before it hits New York. "The Prom" won a Tony and started right here. That's the bragging right.
It runs two very different spaces. The main Coca-Cola Stage seats around 650 in a classic proscenium setup, comfortable and built for sound, perfect for the big musicals and new American plays. Downstairs, the Hertz Stage is a 200-seat black box for the experimental, smaller stuff where the format gets reshaped show to show. Want polish and scale? Coca-Cola Stage. Want to be close enough to see an actor sweat? Hertz.
You're inside the Woodruff Arts Center at 1280 Peachtree Street, right next to the High Museum of Art, so a matinee plus a gallery afternoon makes for an easy Midtown day. The Coca-Cola Stage sits up in the Memorial Arts Building closest to the museum, while the Hertz Stage is tucked underground beneath it, so check your ticket before you wander off looking for the wrong door. Either way, you're seeing theater that takes itself seriously without forgetting to be fun. Browse the Alliance's upcoming productions on Evil Tickets and book your seats.
