The Entry shares a wall with First Avenue in that same black-painted downtown building dotted with silver stars, and at roughly 250 capacity in standing-room-only, it gives you a kind of immediacy the big rooms simply can't. The programming leans indie, alternative, punk, and the genuinely experimental, and this is famously where artists play the Twin Cities before they graduate to First Ave's main room next door. Catch a band here and you get bragging rights later.
It's been part of Minneapolis music history since the 1980s and still wears its original gritty character like a badge - don't expect polish, expect a great show. Need a drink or a bite before doors? The Depot Tavern is literally next door, wired with live video feeds from both the Entry and the Mainroom, so you won't miss the set start.
One real heads-up: shows here run later than you'd think and door times are loose, so check the night's schedule before you show up. Find the 7th Street Entry lineup on Evil Tickets and catch something before everyone else does.
