Capital One Arena

Capital One Arena is right in the middle of Penn Quarter and the Gallery Place/Chinatown Metro station is literally adjacent to the building. Take the Red, Yellow, or Green line to Gallery Place and you're inside in two minutes - this is the standard advice for getting to any event here and it's correct. Parking exists in downtown D.C. but the combination of price and availability makes it a bad idea; just take the Metro.

The Caps have a genuinely dedicated fanbase and Stanley Cup years turned this building into one of the louder hockey arenas in the East. The arena is well-run with good concessions and sight lines that work throughout the building. Penn Quarter itself has turned into one of the city's better dining neighborhoods - restaurants worth going to are in every direction from the arena. If you're coming from suburban Maryland or Virginia, the Metro lines connect you directly without the downtown traffic headache.
