The folks who restored the Granada knew exactly what they had. They kept the original marquee and the art deco details, then bolted on a real stage and a sound system that actually does the room justice. You get a standing floor up front for when you want to be in it, and raised platforms in the back when you'd rather see over everyone's heads. About 1,000 capacity means the band can see you and you can see the band - nobody's a dot on a jumbotron here.
Best part is the neighborhood. The Granada sits at 3524 Greenville Avenue in Lower Greenville, which has been a nightlife strip since the 1940s. Wander next door to Sundown at Granada for a rooftop drink before the show, hit Terilli's if you want a proper Italian sit-down, or grab a rooftop perch at HG Sply Co. The whole strip is walkable, so you can make a night of it without ever moving your car.
Indie kid, Americana lifer, or just someone who appreciates a beautiful old room - this one's an easy yes. Browse the Granada's lineup on Evil Tickets and build your night around it.
