Roadrunner opened in 2022 in the Boston Landing complex in Allston-Brighton, in a space originally drawn up as a Celtics practice facility beneath the New Balance track. Run by Bowery Presents, the two-story, 50,000-square-foot room holds around 3,500, which makes it the largest indoor general-admission venue in New England and fills the gap between sweaty club shows and full arena productions.
This is a purpose-built music room, and it shows. The designers obsessed over sightlines, so there's genuinely no dead spot whether you're down front or up on the balcony. The sound system was spec'd for touring acts, and the layout skips the pillars and obstructions that plague converted warehouses. Six bars means you're never stuck in one line all night. The booking runs rock, alternative, hip-hop, and electronic on a steady calendar.
The name? A nod to the 1976 proto-punk anthem by Boston's own Modern Lovers, which is about as on-brand as a Boston venue can get. Translation: this place was built by people who actually care about live music, and it shows in every detail from the bar count to the angles of the floor. Show up, find a spot, and let a room that was engineered for sound do its job. Check what's coming to Roadrunner on Evil Tickets and lock in your spot.
