Swervantes, as we like to say, is where anything goes. Cervantes Masterpiece is Denver's weird, funky, gloriously unpredictable ballroom, and it's exactly the kind of venue that makes a music scene special and keeps it real. If you want polished and corporate, go somewhere else entirely. If you want authentic, sweaty, dance-until-your-legs-give-out energy from real musicians and real fans, welcome home.
Located on Welton Street in the Five Points neighborhood, Cervantes has two rooms - the main Masterpiece Ballroom (capacity around 900) and the Other Side, a smaller room that hosts its own shows on the same nights. So yeah, you might catch a bass music DJ on one side and a funk band on the other, and you can wander between both all night long. It's beautiful chaos and we absolutely love it. Mystikal, Tauk, Nightmares on Wax, Pretty Lights afterparties - the booking leans jam, electronic, funk, and hip-hop, and the crowd reflects that wonderfully eclectic mix.
Five Points has come a long way and the neighborhood options around the venue are solid now. Rosenberg's Bagels is right there for a pre-show bite that hits the spot (the pastrami sandwich is stupid good, seriously). Star Bar is a block away for cheap drinks in a no-pretense dive that's been there forever. And if the show lets out and you're still buzzing with energy, Nocturne Jazz Club is nearby for a completely different vibe to close out the night in style.
Cervantes is Denver's heart and soul venue - the place where the local music community actually hangs out and feels at home. Check what's happening on Evil Tickets and get weird. That's an order.
