Providence Park is a soccer-specific stadium that sits on a hillside in downtown Portland, and the steep seating design creates acoustics that are genuinely excellent for a roaring crowd. The Timbers Army behind one goal is one of the most organized and consistent supporter groups in American soccer - they're singing from before the whistle to well after the final buzzer, and the atmosphere they create sets the tone for the whole stadium. On a big match night, this place is legitimately loud in a way that surprises people who haven't been.
The downtown Portland location is as accessible as venues get - MAX light rail has a stop right there at Providence Park, and the surrounding neighborhoods on the west side have restaurants and bars in every direction. The stadium went through an expansion that added an upper deck and improved the overall capacity; the sight lines throughout are good for soccer and the proportions keep the field close. If you're only going to one MLS game in your life, this is the stadium to do it in.
